There are various reasons why one should seriously think about buying a treadmill for the house. Those pesky gym fees can add up each month and getting to the gym is such a hassle; a treadmill keeps your workout at home. One of the first pieces of equipment that should be bought for your home gym is the treadmill. You can jog, walk, and run using a treadmill. The type of treadmill is crucial to shaping your home gym and you must be wary of how much you spend and the quality of the treadmill you purchase.

Spending a bundle on a treadmill that's only going to be used to walk on isn't a good investment. Walking on a treadmill does not cause as much wear as jogging or running so you can easily get away with having a less expensive treadmill. It would be in your best interest to purchase the highest quality treadmill that can take the most wear and tear if you are going to be running and jogging for long periods of time.

Treadmills are made up of a number of components that can range from high quality and expensive to inexpensive and inferior in the quality department. The motor is a very important part of any treadmill. This part takes most of the wear and if it is not powerful or quality enough it might burn out. A weak motor in a treadmill can cause the entire machine to wear out before its time, so be sure to find the most affordable treadmill with a high-end motor. Treadmill motors are rated using two measurements; peak horsepower and continuous duty horsepower. Lots of treadmills might quote the peak horsepower ratings because it makes them look good in treadmill reviews, but it's actually the rating of the continuous duty horsepower that's more important. Having more continuous horsepower will ensure that your machine has adequate power and will therefore last much longer.

Another important part to look at is the belt. You need a high quality belt because it is the piece of rubber that you make contact with.
